Thomas, was born in Canada to Czech emigrants, studied at McGill University (Montreal, Canada), where he earned the degrees B.A., B.C.L. and LL.B. He was admitted to the Bar of the Province of Québec in 1983 and practised law in Montreal.

Thomas Hrubý is also a member of many year's standing of the Canadian Bar Association.

Thomas Hrubý obtained a Master's degree (Magistr) in law from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic in 1991 and was admitted as a fully qualified Czech advocate by the Czech Bar Association in 1992. 


In 1993, Thomas founded and became the head of the Prague office of the Montreal law firm, Mitchell, Gattuso. At the end of 1999, he joined Linklaters & Alliance in Prague (as of 2001 Linklaters v.o.s.) and in mid-2001 he opened his own practice in Prague. Since 2006 he has been working with Jiří Buchvaldek, with whom he founded the law firm HRUBY & BUCHVALDEK which was registered as a registered partnership ("v.o.s.") in May of 2007.

Thomas Hrubý speaks fluent English, French and Czech and also speaks Italian, Spanish and German.

Thomas Hrubý is a member of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta since 1987. He served as president of the Česká maltézská pomoc (Czech Auxiliary of the Order of Malta) and as pro-Chancellor of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta - Grand Priory of Bohemia. He is also active in a number of other charitable and non-profit organisations on whose boards of directors he serves, including Randova nadace (the Randa Foundation), The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic, of which he is vice-president, and the Nadační fond Suverénního řádu maltézských rytířů - Českého velkopřevorství "LOURDES" (a foundation organising pilgrimages). Thomas Hrubý is the co-founder of the charitable foundation Akce sv. Lukáše, nadační fond.

Jiří Buchvaldek

Jiří graduated from the Law Faculty of Charles University in 2001, when he joined Petr Stoklasek's law firm as a trainee and worked closely with Belgian lawyer Bie Heyninck. Since 2004, Jiří has been registered with the Czech Bar Association as an independent advocate.

Since 2006, Jiří has begun to work with Thomas Hrubý, with whom HRUBÝ & BUCHVALDEK was founded in 2007.

Jiří is specialized in corporate law, advice to entrepreneurs in their business, contractual agenda, labor law and family law (divorce, childcare).

Jiří Buchvaldek speaks fluent English and Czech and can also speak German in part.

Jiří is a founding member of the Common Law Society student organization (1998) at the Law Faculty of the UK, where he was also president.

Lenka Nejedlá, née Patermanová, has been working at HRUBÝ & BUCHVALDEK at Law at the Law Faculty of Charles University in Prague in 2007, in which she practiced law until December 2010. Lenka was enrolled in the list of attorneys led by the Czech Bar Association in January 2011, she was practicing advocacy until 30 June 2015 as an independent lawyer in close cooperation with HRUBÝ & BUCHVALDEK, v.o.s., Law firm. On July 1, 2015 Lenka became a partner of HRUBÝ & BUCHVALDEK, v.o.s., law firm.

Lenka also performs the mediator's activities and was registered in the list of mediators administered by the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic in June 2013.

Lenka focuses primarily on real estate, commercial and civil law.

Lenka Nejedlá speaks Czech, English and Italian.

Lenka worked for 6 months at the Europen Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg from 10/2019-3/2020.

Dagmar graduated from the Law Faculty of Charles University in Prague in 2007. During her studies she gained her first legal experience as a legal assistant in a Prague law firm where she subsequently worked as a legal trainee. After passing the Bar Exam, which she passed with the excellent grade in 2010, she worked as an in-house lawyer for a significant retail and wholesale Czech trade company. She joined the team of Hrubý & Buchvaldek law firm as an independent advocate in 2018. She specializes in private law, especially in civil, family and labor law and personal data protection law. With respect to her previous working experience she also provides legal services to corporate clients. Dagmar speaks English and has a good passive knowledge of German.

Vojtěch Kilian

Vojtěch graduated from the Faculty of Law at Charles University in 2016. During his studies he gained working experience as a legal assistant in several Prague law offices (including ours) and then at the Bailiff Office, where he then also completed part of his legal practice as a bailiff trainee. Since May 2017, Vojtěch has been a lawyer at HRUBÝ & BUCHVALDEK. Vojtěch is registered with the Czech Bar Association as advocate since January 2021.

In his practice, Vojtěch focuses on private law, in particular disputes and litigation, the civil process including the law of execution, and last but not least on the right to free access to information, which he also dealt with in his diploma thesis.

Vojtech speaks Czech, English, and Italian and has a good knowledge of German and Latin.

Andrea Čárska-Sheppard

Andrea's main practice areas are international law, arbitration, international commercial and investment contracts and the exports control. Her practice also focuses on national and international dispute evaluation and settlement. She has experience with acting for both the global and local corporations, governments, non-profit organizations.

Educated both in common law and civil law system from McGill Law School and at the diplomatic school Centre D´Études Diplomatiques et Stratégiques in France, she is licensed to practice law in the United States (New York State Bar), Canada (Law Society of Upper Canada), Law Society of England and Wales (as a Solicitor) and is a European Registered Lawyer. With her cross-jurisdictional experience and legal know-how she is well strategically placed to address legal needs of international corporations and organizations.

She co-chairs the Prague Chapter of New York State Bar Association's International Law Section and International Committee of Dispute Resolution Section of North Carolina Bar Association. She is also active in the area of sports and arts law.

She regularly speaks at the seminars and publishes in the international law, arbitration, sports law. 

Andrea is fluent in Slovak, English, French, Russian and has reading skills Italian.
